In last week’s sermon, I referenced author Anne Lamott, who writes that any prayer we pray can simplified down to one of these three: Thanks. Help. Wow!
On Sunday afternoon and everyday since, I’ve been relying on “Thanks” and “Wow!” I am deeply grateful to every single person who served or attended the service of Ordination & Installation, as well as the outdoor reception! Thank you to the PNC, for all their hard work organizing an outdoor reception…and in the rain, no less! Thank you to the Presbyterian Women who prepared the church building to receive our members and guests alike. Thank you to the Personnel Committee and to the Tech Team for all of their labors in preparation for the day. Thank you to each and every one of you who showed up, in-person or online, to join in the joyful movement of the Spirit, to answer the constitutional questions for installation, and to lay-hands. It is a day I will not soon forget…I imagine it will be a day that will stay with me throughout my life and ministry.
Wow – it was a good day in the life of Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church! Wow – it was a good day to be reminded that we are not alone in the Church. The body of Christ extends across New Jersey and across the world (there was someone worshipping with us from Scotland)! We are particularly called to be the Church here, in Point Pleasant, just as others are called to be the Church in their particular neighborhoods. Wow – it was a Spirit-filled day! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Wow, wow, wow!
Grace and Peace,
