Dear PPPC,
I have two things to share with you this week.
The first:
On January 1st, did you hear it?
The sound of millions of gym memberships….
The sound of bedside tables piling up with books promising clarity and control….
The sound of a whole culture clearing its throat to say: New Year. New You.
Let this serve as my yearly reminder to you, to myself, and to anyone else who will listen: There is no resolution that, if kept, will make you more worthy of love. Just in case you needed the reminder.
More about this in worship on Sunday, as the Scriptures proclaim the Baptism of our Lord, and we remember our own baptisms.
…
Now, the second:
Earlier this week, I received Sara Hoey’s letter of resignation/retirement and passed it along to the Personnel Committee and Session.
We accept this letter, with deep gratitude for Sara and her many faithful years of service. I know you will join in celebrating Sara’s 43 years of music ministry among us. Sara’s music has accompanied our lives of faith: worship, funerals, weddings, grace notes, and so much more. Forthcoming will be ways to honor and recognize Sara’s leadership at PPPC. Look for a separate email with more details.
There is a letter below, from Sara, to you.
The Personnel Committe will keep us all informed about how we will proceed in addressing our music staffing needs.
Yours for the journey,
Pastor Molly
PS. Don’t forget – this Sunday is Blanket Sunday. Also, there is a meeting after worship for anyone interested in attending Camp Johnsonburg this summer.
