We are living is some difficult times right now. As I think about what is happening in our world right now I am once again struck by the courage of Jesus and some of his followers during his time on earth. Jesus always stood up for the right thing. He always challenged injustice. I wonder what he was thinking as he faced certain death for all the times he stood up for injustice. I don’t know many people who have that kind of courage. Was he anxious? What was he feeling? I’d like to get to know Jesus the human better. I wonder what he’d be doing if he were walking the earth in human form right now. What would he think of the pandemic, of the voter suppression laws being enacted, of racism, of gun violence and of the migrant concerns at the border? Would we be reading about him in the news? I imagine he’d be involved with protests for justice. He’d more than likely be arrested for his actions. I’m just so curious. I also know I don’t have the courage he did. If I did I’d be doing different things. Do you ever wonder what Jesus would expect of you if he were here? Remember those rubber bracelets inscribed with “WWJD?” What would Jesus do indeed. Maybe more importantly, what will I do? These are good questions. Ones we may want to ponder as we watch what is happening in our country and the world. Until next time, stay well, stay masked and stay just a little bit distant (you know what I mean).
