From the Pastor’s Desk

Dear PPPC –

I think a lot about hope – hazard of being a pastor. Jonathan Merritt writes about his understanding of hope, “Anticipatory hope suggests that somehow, someday, somehow, things will get better. But it’s fragile as an eggshell. Participatory hope is rooted in the present. It sees the broken things and says, ‘Here is where we begin.'”

Author Emily P. Freeman writes it more simply, “The distinction between anticipatory hope and participatory hope is one I will never forget. One crosses its fingers. The other rolls up its sleeves.”

I wonder today, what does it look like for us to participate in hope?

See you in church!

Yours for the journey,
Pastor Molly
