Happy New Year!
Let us welcome 2024 and all that it will bring for our lives, our faith, and our church family.
During Advent, I shared with you Howard Thurman’s poem, I Will Light Candles this Christmas. Therefore, it is only good and right that now I share with you his poem, The Work of Christmas:
When the song of the angels is stilled,
When the star in the sky is gone,
When the kings and princes are home,
When the shepherds are back with their flock,
The work of Christmas begins:
To find the lost,
To heal the broken,
To feed the hungry,
To release the prisoner,
To rebuild the nations,
To bring peace among others,
To make music in the heart.
May the work of Christmas take up residence in your heart, in our hearts, in 2024. And may we trust that even if the work of Christmas seems overwhelming, may we trust that even our meager efforts might make a difference to someone. May it be so.
See you in church.
Yours for the journey,
Pastor Molly
