Dear PPPC –
This Sunday, December 15th, we will be having a “Blue Christmas” as our Service of Worship.
What is a Blue Christmas service? Originally it was a service in Advent that focused on offering comfort and peace to those who had experienced the loss of a loved one. It was a ray of hope to those living in the midst of grief and struggling with loss.
Many of us grieve other losses and not just the loss of a person we loved. We may grieve the loss of health, either physical or mental or both; the loss of a relationship that was special to us; the loss of financial stability; the loss of faith in our country; the loss of joy in this season; the loss of hope.
The reasons to gather in worship this Sunday are many. We gather in the midst of suffering, grief and loss to remember that God is good. God is strong. God is always with us. We are not alone.
During this worship service you will have the opportunity to light a candle to honor your loss, for it is real. We will offer oil for anointing as well.
Let us pray: Holy God, grant us a taste of the hope, peace, joy and love that you promise to all of your people through the gift of your son Jesus Christ, amen.
Blessings,
Pastor Linda, Parish Associate
