Special Music This Sunday

We welcome to our service today John, Lee Ann and Federico who offer their musical talents to assist us in worshiping God with the sound of the Trumpet (and the French Horn, and the Trombone!). And they are humble enough to allow amateur musicians like Pastor Osy (Trumpet) and Juli (Baritone) to join them in forming an impromptu Brass Quintet to make a joyful sound onto the Lord.

John Henry Lambert is a trumpet performance graduate of the Manhattan School of Music. Immediately following college, he won a position in the trumpet section of La Orquesta Sinfonica Del Estado De Mexico, and lived near Mexico City for two seasons. Upon returning to NYC in 1982, John founded Gramercy Brass Orchestra of New York and launched a career as trumpet performer, conductor and empresario, working with a variety of bands and orchestras all over the United States. Over the past 30 years, he has developed Polishing the Brass – programs in Music Education of Gramercy Brass Orchestra, which are sought after by students, educators and brass enthusiasts from around the globe. John serves as the Director of Bands and Trumpet Instructor for the United Nations International School in NYC. He keeps busy as a member of the Principal Brass Quintet of Gramercy Brass Orchestra. Check out his 2010 recording of trumpet solos performed at St Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC with internationally renowned organ virtuoso, Stephen Tharp.

Lee Ann Newland is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (French Horn performance) and Rutgers University (Masters in Music). She served as a member of the horn section of the Delaware Symphony Orchestra for many years, and has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, among other NYC based ensembles. Besides being the principal horn of Gramercy Brass Orchestra, Lee Ann has appeared in numerous Broadway musicals, and is a member of the famed Papermill Playhouse Orchestra in Millburn, NJ. She is in demand as a private horn coach and works full-time on the faculty of Teaneck Public Schools.

After a successful career in financial services, Federico Perez decided that music was his first love and is now a Senior at Montclair State University on target to graduate in 2020 with a Music Education degree (with a Jazz Concentration). Federico is the founder of Bergen Brass, based in Bergen County, NJ and also serves as the Bass Trombonist for Gramercy Brass Orchestra. He can be heard as a freelance performer in the tri-state area with a wide variety of ensembles given his fabulous skill and versatility.
