This past Wednesday, Lend A Hand hosted a dinner at our church to celebrate all the work that has been accomplished since Superstorm Sandy. A great number of PPPC volunteers were in attendance. This past week was Lend A Hand’s 30th work team to come to the Jersey Shore. All but one of those groups have stayed in our Volunteer Village. Lend A Hand has only one more team scheduled to come to PPPC – a group of Elizabethtown College students – in early October.
Here are some statistics shared that evening by Lend A Hand office coordinator Jim Davis about those 30 work trips:
245 individuals have come, some of them numerous times
(507 weeks of service altogether).
114 of them have been women.
Nelson Lewis has come 20 times,
Bob Keefer has come 17 times,
Leroy Ziegler has come 16 times and
Bill Charron has come 15 times.
Lend A Hand has worked on 115 different homes,
from South Amboy to Ventnor.
Their volunteers have put in over 18,000 hours.
